Privacy policy.
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit augustkjerland.com, sign up for a free resource, buy a course or get in touch, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it short and specific. If something is unclear, write to us and we will explain.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Nahla Invest AS (org. no. 933 133 702), Grubeveien 20, 4825 Arendal, Norway, the company behind August Kjerland's courses and services. You can reach us about anything in this policy at august@augustkjerland.com. Our technical partner GMERK runs the website on our behalf and only accesses personal data when it is needed to keep the site and the courses working.
2. What we collect and why
| What | When | Why (legal basis) |
|---|---|---|
| Name and email address | You download a free resource, register for a webinar or join August's Brief | To send what you asked for and, if you opted in, our newsletter (your consent) |
| Name, email, company name, tax number, billing address and country | You buy a course | To deliver the course, issue a receipt and keep our accounts (contract and legal obligation) |
| Login details and course progress | You use the course area | To give you access and remember where you stopped (contract) |
| Your message and contact details | You use the contact or consulting form, or email us | To answer you and, if we agree on work, to prepare it (legitimate interest and contract) |
| Pages visited, device, browser, approximate location | You browse the site | To understand which content is useful and to keep the site secure (consent for analytics cookies, legitimate interest for security) |
We never see or store your card details. Payments are handled directly by Stripe.
3. Email and newsletter
If you sign up for a free resource or August's Brief, we send you emails a few times a month about pitching, entrepreneurship and cross-cultural business, and occasionally about our courses. Every email has an unsubscribe link. One click and you are off the list. We do not sell, rent or swap email addresses.
4. Who processes data for us
We use a small number of trusted services. Each of them only processes your data to provide their service to us.
- systeme.io (Systeme SAS, France): website hosting, forms, email, checkout and the course area.
- Stripe: payment processing for card, Apple Pay and Klarna payments. Stripe and Klarna act as independent controllers for fraud prevention and their own legal obligations.
- Google (Google Analytics 4, YouTube): website statistics and embedded videos.
- Ahrefs (Ahrefs Web Analytics): privacy-friendly visit statistics without cookies.
- Adobe Fonts and GitHub Pages: they deliver the fonts and design files of the website and see your IP address when your browser loads them.
Some of these providers are based in or transfer data to the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
5. How long we keep data
- Newsletter and free resources: until you unsubscribe. Inactive contacts are removed from our list periodically.
- Purchases: receipts and accounting records for as long as Norwegian bookkeeping law requires, currently five years.
- Course access: for as long as your account is active, so you keep your lifetime access.
- Messages and enquiries: up to 24 months after our last conversation, unless they lead to an agreement.
- Analytics: no longer than 14 months.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- show you the personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your data, unless we are required by law to keep it;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- move your data to another service in a common format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what we did before.
Write to august@augustkjerland.com and we will reply within 30 days. If you think we handle your data incorrectly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet, or to the data protection authority in your own country.
7. Security
The site and checkout run over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to our accounts is limited to the people who need it and protected with strong passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we do what is reasonable to protect your data and will tell you if a breach puts you at risk.
8. Children
Our content and courses are made for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Terms of sale.
These terms apply when you buy an online course from augustkjerland.com. By completing a purchase you accept them. Please read them before you buy.
1. The seller
The seller is Nahla Invest AS, org. no. 933 133 702, Grubeveien 20, 4825 Arendal, Norway. The company runs August Kjerland's courses and services. Email: august@augustkjerland.com. Checkout, payment and course delivery run on the systeme.io platform.
2. What you buy
Our courses are digital content delivered online: video lessons with supporting materials such as notes, templates, tasks and checklists. The current courses are:
- How to Pitch: Precision in Every Detail
- Cross-Cultural Communication
The course page describes exactly what each course contains. The courses are educational. They share methods and experience, but they do not guarantee a specific result such as funding, a sale or a job.
3. Price and payment
The price is shown on the course page and at checkout, in euros, as a one-time payment. There are no subscriptions and no hidden fees. Any tax that applies is shown before you pay. You can pay by card, Apple Pay or Klarna, all processed securely by Stripe. The purchase is confirmed when the payment has gone through, and you receive a receipt by email.
4. Access
You get access immediately after payment. Your login details for the course area are sent to the email address you used at checkout. Please check your spam folder if they do not arrive within a few minutes.
Lifetime access means you can use the course for as long as it is offered on this website, including any future updates to the material at no extra cost. If we ever stop offering a course, we will give you at least 90 days' notice by email so you can download the materials that are available for download.
5. Your licence
The course is for your own personal or professional learning. You may not share your login, resell the course, or copy, record or publish the videos and materials. Templates and checklists may be used in your own work. All content remains the property of August Kjerland.
6. 14-day refund
If the course is not for you, email august@augustkjerland.com or reply to your receipt within 14 days of purchase and you will get a full refund, no questions asked. The refund goes back to the payment method you used, normally within 14 days, and your access to the course ends.
This refund policy is our own promise and applies in addition to your statutory rights. Under the Norwegian Cancellation Act (angrerettloven), your statutory right of withdrawal for digital content ends once delivery has started with your consent. Our 14-day refund applies even if you have already started the course.
7. Technical problems and complaints
If a video does not play, a file is missing or you cannot log in, write to us and we will fix it or give you another way to access the content. If you are not satisfied with how a problem was handled, you can contact the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet), which offers free mediation, and bring the case to the Consumer Disputes Commission (Forbrukerklageutvalget).
8. Business customers
If you buy on behalf of a company, enter the company name and tax number at checkout so they appear on your receipt. The refund in section 6 also applies to company purchases.
9. Consulting and speaking
Consulting sessions, workshops and talks are not sold through this checkout. Their scope, price and cancellation terms are agreed with you in writing before the work starts.
10. Liability
We take care that the courses are accurate and work as described. We are not liable for indirect losses or for decisions you make based on the course content. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The version that applied when you bought the course continues to apply to that purchase. These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you are a consumer living in another EU or EEA country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country.
